Welcome to St Faiths
If your child is below the age of twelve, please see very important information at the bottom of the page.*
Firstly we would like apologise for the delay in contacting you regarding your referral. We are doing our best to reduce our NHS waiting list, but this is largely imposed upon us and resources are limited. Once you have activated your referral by texting 'YES' to the text message we have sent you, you should receive an appointment by post in the next ten weeks (NB If we need to clarify information with your dentist there may however be a further delay) .If you no longer require treatment, do please text us back 'NO'
In the meantime we would be very grateful if you could please take a moment to visit https://patients.ref.management/login and enter the ‘URN’ number on the text from us and patient’s date of birth to check that all the details provided by your dentist are correct- particularly medical history and the medications taken and your contact details-this will minimise any delays in treatment. (You can also use this to check on the progress of any correspondence between ourselves and your dentist) If anything is not correct, please do let us know on 01342 322228.
In order for the sedation to be carried out, you MUST observe the following points:
After Treatment and for the next 24 hours
N.B YOU MUST CONFIRM YOUR APPOINTMENT FOUR FULL WORKING DAYS (MON-FRI) BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT. UNCONFIRMED APPOINTMENTS MAY BE CANCELLED.
If you pay for NHS treatment the patient charge will be £65.20. This must be paid in full ahead or time or on the day of treatment by cash or card.

- If you have been referred for fillings and feel you can cope with at least some of the treatment with your own dentist we strongly recommend you do so; treatment under sedation sometimes has to be simplified to ensure reliability- but this can often make the difference between filling teeth and, unfortunately, having to remove them. We do our best not to keep you waiting longer that absolutely necessary, but unfortunately if you require multiple fillings, there may be a further significant delay before you receive an appointment.
- You are welcome to attend for a pre-assessment appointment if you would like to meet the team or discuss any aspect of the proposed treatment that is unclear; once you have received your treatment appointment do call us on 01342 322228 to arrange this preliminary assessment if you wish. We do however understand that distance, family and time constraints as well as other commitments mean you may prefer to have the treatment carried out on the first visit. Depending on treatment required if, after reading the online booklet and associated information at www.stfaithdental.com, you are happy you understand treatment and sedation techniques proposed (and it is considered in your best interests to do so) we are often able to complete the treatment at the first visit.
In order for the sedation to be carried out, you MUST observe the following points:
- Read the booklet. Ensure you and your escort understand the post operative instructions.
- DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING (including water) for FOUR hours before your appointment time unless specifically advised otherwise by us.
- You must be accompanied and driven home by a responsible adult, and in the case of under 16’s a parent/ legal guardian (we require documentary evidence of guardianship) must be present to sign the consent form.
- THE ESCORT AND DRIVER MUST REMAIN ON THE PREMISES WHILST TREATMENT IS CARRIED OUT. UNFORTUNATELY PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
After Treatment and for the next 24 hours
- Do not drive any kind of vehicle or use machinery including cooker and power tools.
- Do not work
- Do not drink alcohol
- Do not sign legal documents
- Children should not attend school or partake in any energetic activity
- All patients should remain with a responsible adult overnight.

*NHS Sedation for children under 12 has changed. Since 31st December 2019, in most circumstances we will be unable to treat your child at this first appointment. This will be a ‘Preassessment’ appointment where we discuss the treatment with you and your child and ascertain whether treatment can be carried out with ‘Magic WInd’ inhalational sedation using Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen. Mothers may have experienced this during child birth; it makes one feel floaty and relaxed but not in the same way as ‘Intravenous’ sedation (where powerful sedation drugs are introduced via the back of the hand or arm). If this approach is not likely to be practical due to age, anxiety or extent of treatment, the options are then for us to refer your child on for treatment to hospital or community dental unit as dictated by the NHS referral system- or you can ask your dentist to refer you for treatment using intravenous sedation on an independent basis.
The withdrawal of intravenous sedation techniques under NHS contract for children has been imposed by NHSEngland and is not something we have had any say over. We would however like to apologise for any delays and disruption this may cause.
